Lake Saiko & Tokyo - day 14
This morning we got up a bit later, packed our bags and left them in the luggage room at the hostel. Then we took a bus around Lake Saiko (another one of the 5 Mount Fuji lakes) and got off at the 'lava cave'. We walked through the woods for a bit and then got to the cave. The stairs went down steeply and the temperature dropped very fast (to about 0 degrees). The ceiling was very low and it was very dark inside the cave. We saw a bat that was fluttering around and some ice here and there. The cave was actually pretty small, so we got out again rather fast, making it feel like we'd been ripped off (only for 1,50 euro though...). Then we walked to the 'ice cave', expecting it to be way better... it wasn't really though... The ceiling was even lower, we had to crawl through parts of the cave, and the cave itself was even smaller, although there was more ice in it... Anyway, after that we walked all the way to the 'bat cave' (which is were batman supposedly lives), but we'd been told that you may or may not see any bats. So we decided to avoid paying another entrance fee and just looked at the bat gallery. We took the bus back to Lake Kawaguchiko and after a quick lunch, returned to the hostel to pick up the luggage and get a free ride to the station (excellent service!). We took the bus back to Tokyo and returned to the hostel we stayed at the first few days in Tokyo. For dinner we found a little japanese fastfood type place which was completely empty when we got there and which was packed when we left! We both had fried pork with rice and curry. We went to bed early cause we were planning on going to the fish market the next morning!
