Our flight to
Tokyo took about 11 hours. The food on-board was disgusting, but we each had our own TV screen and about 50 movies to choose from, so that made things a lot better! As soon as we got out of the plane, we felt the humid heat of Japans summer days... From Narita airport we took a train to the center of
Tokyo and then another train and finally the subway. Our next mission was to find our hostel using a map that has no street names... obviously we got lost and nearly melted due to the humid heat and our heavy backpacks! We ended up finding the hostel and leaving our luggage in the room. Pierre

deci

ded it would be best if we didnt take a nap, so

we

went sightseeing right away. We started with the Sensoji temple because it was so close by. It was nice, but too hot to visit for too long! We had lunch in a typical little Japanese restaurant on a corner and both ate miso ramen. After hesitating about taking a nap after all, we decided to walk all the way to Ueno park. This was a pretty long walk!! By the time we got to the park, all we wanted was to lay down in the grass and sleep, but it turned out there is no grass in that park... just trees, museums, a lake and a zoo. So we walked around a bit and then found a bench and took a quick nap. We walked all the way back to the hostel after that; it really felt like a never-ending walk!!! On our way we stopped at a supermarket to buy something for dinner and at a Japanese casino (pachinko). If you ever go to Tokyo, you must check out one of those casinos, they are the craziest places ever; they're incredibly noisy because they use some kind of metallic balls instead of coins that create the most horrible noise ever! Anyway, that's all for today...
Good news- Pierre still remembers some Japanese and it has turned out to be pretty useful so far!
Weather- bloody hot and humid!
Time difference with Paris, Madrid and Amsterdam is 7 hours!
