Tokyo - day 3

Today we decided to sleep in, so the day started rather late... First we spent some time at the hostel to plan the rest of our stay in Japan and after that we took the subway to Shinjuku station to walk around there. Shinjuku is said to be the busiest train station in the world at rush hour, but we were there on a sunday afternoon, so it was ok, although still very crowded. We decided to try out the japanese McDonald's for lunch, which was pretty good. After that, we hung around in the area and went into some electronics shops which are sooo filled with ads and writing everywhere, that you can barely see the actual electronics they sell!! We then went to the Official Government Building where you can go to an observation deck at the 45th floor (for free!) and from where you have a great view of the city (which seems endless!) and from where you should be able to see Mount Fuji. Unfortunately it was too cloudy to see the mountains... Once we got out of there, it started raining like crazy! We started running, but had to hide under a bridge for a while... until it got worse and we'd been waiting too long, so we ran back again and got completely soaked within 10 seconds... We managed to find a tunnel leading back to the train station and to the shopping streets where we could buy umbrellas! After walking around aimlessly and getting rather lost, we decided to go to Ginza to have dinner at the yakitori stands under the train rails because Pierre remembered that from when he lived here. We managed to find only one open yakitori stand and had dinner there. It was very good! We headed "home" to Asakusa after dinner and went to bed rather early because we were going to Kamakura on a day trip the following morning!

Funny story: Pierre got yelled at by a police officer for J-walking in Roppongi!! hahaha! (for those who don't know what J-walking is, it means crossing the street when the pedestrian light is red!)

Weather: a lot of rain, sligthly cooler, but still warm and humid...

Je vois que le côté rebelle de Pierre a frappé ... traverser au rouge alors que les gens là bas roulent à l'envers mais quelle folie !!!!

gros bisous à tous les deux !

Hi guys, sounds like you're having a great time. I read your blog in between work when I need a few minutes of something else on my mind, and I travel with you a little bit in my mind's eye!
Enjoy, liefs Sandie
